Laurie Pollpeter Eskenazi

I met Laurie about 15 years ago at The One Of A Kind Show in Chicago Il. She was at a neighboring booth from mine. I fell in love with her work back then and when we opened the shop, I knew I wanted to share it with my customers.

Her ceramic hearts are a labor of love. Each one is molded clay draped with a decorative vintage granny lace and pressed into it before it is kiln fired and painstaking glazed.

As a young girl, she was fascinated with the items found on and in her Grandmother’s dresser.  It was filled with old button boxes, crazy quilts, and hand tatted lace. Influenced by the colors and textures found in her travels throughout France, Italy, Spain and the rural Midwest, her pallet is lush and vibrant.

I am proud to call Laurie a friend and a fellow clay mudslinger. As with all of our favorites, Laurie’s awesome artwork graces the walls of my own home. We hope you will love it as much as we do!

Houston Llew

The gleaming copper tiles featured on the far wall of our shop are made by Georgia artist Houston Llew. His process is involved and as impressive of his tiles themselves. His lightweight blocks are meticulously formed copper, covered in glass enamel and kiln fired over and over layered until they have a mirrored glass image. They are then wrapped around a lightweight wood block and viola.

Houston’s tiles often reflect a person flare, as he has offered tiles that reflect his own life and experiences. In Houston’s own words, “I believe that meaningful art is about emotion. Thus, every Spiritile created reflects a piece of our story. These icons stretch our memory and bring to mind the people we love, the things we cherish, and the passions we pursue. When collected, Spiritiles become a montage of moments that make us smile, laugh, remember, and dare to dream.”

Each tile is adorned with a famous quote and numbered. The author of the quote is printed on the nose of the tile, the quote along the side.

We carry a nice selection of his available blocks and even some of his retired offerings. His Spirit Tiles are released occasionally throughout the year and also subsequently retired. They tend to gain value rapidly when they are discontinued. There are a lot of collectors of Houston’s art. If you would like to learn more or check our current inventory, contact us today!

Sid Dickens

Sid has been a favorite of ours for many years. We began collecting his tiles 20 years ago. Their unique style and design is like an art chameleon. They seem to morph and fit any design environment. Beautiful in a more traditional setting and also pop on a whimsical wall.

We met Sid back in 2013 the winter after we opened the store. He was just as cool as his art. His blocks are all assembled by hand in his studio in Vancouver Canada. His Blocks are made with a heavy wood base and then covered in hard plaster. Each tile is given it’s unique touch by hand painting and printing, so even though he reproduces his tiles, no two are exactly the same. Each tile is numbered and given a distinct story or poem which is printed on it’s backside. Some collectors pick the imagery on the tiles, while others are drawn to their meaning. His designs run the gamut. He leaves no stone unturned, from seasonally inspired tiles, to floral and architectural accents. He really truly offers a collection for everyone.

There are many tiles to choose from, and his series is constantly changing. New tiles are generally released twice a year with the same quantities of discontinued production. These tiles are collectable. Sometimes releasing a special tile and then also retiring the design in the same year! Please call to inquire what tiles we have in stock. We do carry some of his blocks that he is no longer producing, and often have around 100 tiles in stock at all times!

Bill Finks

Well, Bill is about one of my most favorite people on the planet. His positive energy and kindness is contagious. Bill is a native Michigander, originally from Flint, Bill now call New York his home.

Bill’s art is nostalgic, whimsical and creative. He combines, found objects, vintage toys, dolls and old lamp parts to stack into his sculptures. He teases that he wastes not a speck of dusts when assembling his artwork!

Poesy is honored to carry Primitive Twig, The art of Bill Finks. We are in good company as Bill’s art can also be seen, in Sundance Catalog, and even has been highlighted frequently in the windows of Bergdorf Goodman.

We have free standing sculptures in stock and also his gorgeous wall hangings. Stop in today or message us for photos of his special work.

Magnolia Pearl

The fashion is designed amidst the countryside in Fredericksburg, Texas that Brown and the Magnolia Pearl family inhabit. Their clothing highlights imperfection. It is their aesthetic in an impermanent, ever changing world. Magnolia Pearl's aesthetic as a sense of time and place as opposed to a blip on the radar of an industry.

All of their clothing is made of natural fabrics and woven with love. They are original and full of character. Natural color dying creates variations that make them one of a kind. No two items will be identical. We love their artistic and timelessness.

Life is to short to dress like everyone else. Cover yourself in art! They explain Magnolia Pearl as a “horizonal" brand-a work in progress instead of a destination, an elusive sense of a beauty that adheres to a curve even as others insist on a line. A wonderful component of this dynamic fashion brand is their ability to dress you in a masterpiece, but simultaneously drape you in comfort. You won’t want to take Magnolia Pearl clothing off!
